Manual Track Teams Get Head Start on Competition Amidst Cold Weather

The Manual boys’ and girls’ track teams had their first practice of the season on Wednesday December 2nd. The track practice was held outside in temperatures below 60 degrees.

“Early season track is really cold, but it kinda brings out everybody’s dedication, and who wants to do well,” explained Will Short (11).

The first practice was held six months before the state championship for track, whereas most teams have not yet begun practicing. The Manual track team sees this as an opportunity to get a leg up on competition. The first few practices were held at Seneca and Cherokee park, and were then moved to Manual’s outdoor track as the season gets closer.

“We’re getting our long distance base right now by running a lot of miles at an easy pace,” said Jack Grundy (11).
