Academic team wins third place

Last weekend, Manual’s academic team competed in the statewide Governor’s Cup and placed third overall. Participants competed in three categories: Future problem solving, written assessment, and Quick Recall.

“The scores for each category are added up to determine a final score,” said Ms. Anita Sanders (English), the sponsor for the academic team. “It’s similar to how a track meet is scored.”

Manual placed third both in Quick Recall and overall. Outstanding students in written assessment include Meghamsh Kanuparthy (11, Science, Arts and Humanities), Joy Kim (10, Composition), Nick Neuteufel (11, Social Studies), Akshai Bhatnagar (12, Social Studies), Eliza Scruton (10, Arts and Humanities), and Carolyn Brown (11, Arts and Humanities).

Other schools in the region that placed below Manual include the J. Graham Brown School, Kentucky Country Day, and Presentation Academy, among others.
