Swim and dive team looking ahead to next season

Even though the swimming and diving season just came to a close, the duPont Manual swim and dive team has high expectations for next year.
This year, the girls came up short and lost to Sacred Heart in the state championship. With the help of a talented incoming freshman class, things may change for the better. Head coach J.C. Barnett said, “I believe that we have a very productive group of freshman coming in but they will never be able to replace a double state champion (Caroline Thomas (12)). Now, it is the junior class’ responsibility to step up and become leaders of the team.”
The team expects to get a few more male swimmers next year as well as females, which should help raise the team’s overall score at dual meets, regionals, and state. Swim team member Sara Assef (10) said, “Hopefully, the girls will be able to take back the state champion title from Sacred Heart. This will be an especially difficult task since we are losing some very valuable seniors.”
