Manual bowling team looks to build on last year’s success

The Manual boys’ bowling team looks to build on last year’s successful season and advance further through state competition. This is the first time bowling has been a sport sanctioned by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA).

Many bowlers from last year’s team are back to help the Crimsons take State this year. “Only four kids from last year aren’t returning, so I think we’ll have a pretty good team this year,” said second year bowler Connor Kriz (11).

Bowling practice starts this Friday, September 16, from 3:30 – 5:30 at Rose Bowl. Tryouts begin October 29. The team has a twelve-man roster.

“The top 8 people with the highest series score make the team, and the coach picks the other four,” said bowler Kyle Abell (10).

Last season, the team had an excellent record and made its way through District and Regional play to compete in the State Tournament in Lexington. The team won its first two games at State, but lost to Paul Dunbar High School in the third round. Its final seasonal record was 8-3.
