Cross country revs up for state meet

The Varsity cross country team is pumping up for the state meet on Saturday with a pasta dinner and motivating messages.

The meet will take place at the New Horse Park in Lexington.

Varsity girls’ runner Jeana Logue (11) said, “We’re hoping to be the underdogs and surprise everyone. We know that the field hockey team came in as the underdogs and beat Sacred Heart and we hope to do the same thing.”

Austin Snider (10), a boys’ varsity runner, said, “We’re having a pasta dinner on Friday night at our coach’s house.”

Coach Timothy Holman said, “The boys really want to be on the podium and shock some people.” He later said, “The girls are really gunning for the top three.”

Logue said, “Last week we wrote inspirational letters to each other.”

Snider said, “Only the top ten fastest get to run at state. Seven run and the other three are alternates.”

Last Saturday, the girls’ team placed first and the boys’ placed third at the regional meet.
