Moving on to summer—Girl’s Basketball

On March 10, the Manual Lady Crimsons won the state championship, the KHSAA Sweet Sixteen. But that is not the end for many of the players.

Many players, wanting to pursue their basketball careers and make sure they are ready for the next season, plan to continue AAU basketball after the season ends. Destony Curry (11) and Teanna Curry (9) are playing for the Lady Legends in the summer. Erika Hawkins (10), and Alexis Pasley (10) are playing for the Louisville Sting, and Morgan Allen (11) is playing for the Premiere.

The seniors, meanwhile, are getting ready to go to college. Many of them have decided which school to attend. Le’Asia Wright (12), however, had not. “I don’t know what school I’m going to yet, and I’m a little scared that I won’t be going to the school that I want to for college,” said Le’Asia.

The other seniors either have recieved scholarships or have been accepted to their schools. Lauren Bodine (12) is attending the University of Maine, April Wilson (12) is attending Purdue, and Cara Wright (12) is attending Missouri State Southeast.

“I’m really excited for college and what it has in store for me,” said Cara Wright. “This season was incredible and I hope our girls do their best again next year”.
