Opinion: Romney v. Obama

On May 29, 2012, Governor Romney secured enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination for the Presidency. For all intents and purposes, this officially starts the general election. From now until November 6, the country will partake in one of the most fundamental bastions of our democracy. Over the years the process has been twisted and turned, polarized and pulled-apart, but in the end, this is what makes America great.

Among all of our partisan and biased blogs, from every side of the aisle, I’m writing with the intention of neither partisanship nor bias. It’s important, whether your supporting Governor Romney or President Obama, to become actively involved in one of the hallmarks of this country. Let’s not take for granted the power and importance that a vote holds and let’s not take for granted to power and importance that we hold as citizens. Let’s not let apathy be our death.

It may seem like it doesn’t matter, but it does. It may seem like you can’t make a difference, but you can. From keeping updated and informed to working actively for either campaign, we should try out best to honor the system of democracy we have in this country. Of course, it’s not perfect, but among tyranny and tragedy throughout the world, it’s the best we’ve got.
