Mellwood Art Center celebrates 10th anniversary

On Friday Sept. 28, the Mellwood Art Center is hosting a night-long celebration during the F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop to mark its 10th anniversary.

The event is free and will include food and drink, as well as live music in the courtyard, and a raffle for gift certificates (no purchase necessary) totalling $300 that can be spent at any Mellwood gallery or shop. Tenants of the building are also having deals and giveaways on artwork, art classes, and tickets to their own events.

“Caterers will also have free samples available for the attendees, and a photobooth will be set up for people to take pictures,” said Scooter Davidson, a Mellwood Arts Center employee.

Davidson added that this will be the first anniversary celebration for the Center, and that they expect many people to come because it is scheduled on a Trolley Hop night.

Casey Hoke (10), a VA major and regular patron of the Mellwood Arts Center, said, “I’m excited for the Mellwood Art Center’s 10th Anniversary Celebration because I have had great opportunities to speak and get inspiration from local artists for my own work.”

More details are to be posted soon on the Mellwood Art Center website, http://www.mellwoodartcenter.com.
