Alex Calleja hopes to kick in college

Manual’s starting football kicker this year has the hopes to play at the next level. Alex Calleja (12) who is a huge University of Tennessee fan, hopes he can earn a spot on the UT football team next fall. Calleja says he has a try out for the team during the spring or early summer. ” It will probably be during the summer and I expect do alright. I have a few months to keep working every day,” said Calleja.

Manual’s football coach, Oliver Lucas is talking to the Tennessee football program to try to put in a good word for his starting kicker. ” Coach Lucas is talking to their head recruiter, he’s telling them that he believes I can make it as a kicker at the top level and is sending them film,” said Calleja.

Despite this being Calleja’s first year kicking, he didn’t miss a field goal and went 33/34 on extra points. He also was selected to the all-district team at the end of the season. Right now, Calleja is practicing and working out on his own to prepare for his tryout.
