The duPont Manual wrestling team’s 2012-13 season is over with mixed results. The team did not have the overall success they desired, but there were still takeaway victories from the year.
“For being almost entirely underclassmen, I think we did very well,” Benjamin Green (10) said. “We had a lot of freshmen in the lineup and they really stepped up to the plate.” The team had some very nice moments from the season such as beating Male for a second straight year, and nice individual performances at dual meets and tournaments. “Next year I’d like to see our seniors step up and lead the team better than they did this year,” Green said.
The team also had a number of players who made State: Noah Ewing (10), Hayden Vinegar (10), William Kuhn (9), along with Andrew Salings (10) and Daylen Eichenberger (10) as alternates.
Team members are looking forward to next year to grow and show their improvement. “We didn’t have the success we wanted to have, but we saw a lot of kids get good experience,” Daniel Segal (10) said.
