Boys Soccer defeats KCD on senior night

The seven seniors on the Manual Boys Soccer celebrated their Senior Night on Tuesday at Manual Stadium, during halftime of their game against Kentucky Country Day (KCD), where Manual won 2-0

The Crimsons scored both goals in the first ten minutes of play. In the fourth minute, Dylan Barth (10, #9) passed the ball to Hunter Guthrie (12, #5), who found Riley Hook (11, #52) for the goal. Isaac Domenech (12, #27) went on to score the second goal in the ninth minute.

“In general, the team played really good defense,” Manual Head Coach Bob Ramsey said. “They held a 2-0 lead and they had some good opportunities. It was a good night for the seniors, and I thought they all contributed and did a nice job.”

All sports teams at Manual celebrate a senior night, and they each vary in the way of celebrating. For the main Senior Night celebration, each senior walked with his parents onto the field, through a makeshift tunnel of teammates, and under a decorative arch, from where the senior and his parents got a picture with Manual Principal Jerry Mayes, Assistant Principal Greg Kuhn and Ramsey. The game announcer shared the accomplishments and future plans of each senior as he made his way to the arch. In addition, parents made cardboard cutouts of each senior’s head, which one other teammate per senior carried while escorting the senior and his parents.

“It’s really nice to win on senior night, but obviously it’s not just about the seniors, it’s about everyone who played,” Lincoln Hirn (12, #22) said.
