Girls’ Basketball:

The Lady Crimsons took on the Seventh Region Tournament this week and played their best ball. After a 55-33 win over Assumption on Monday and a 68-37 drubbing of Eastern on Wednesday, the girls got the rematch they wanted on Saturday: Male. This time for a shot at the Sweet 16. The Crimsons made the right adjustments after their loss to the Bulldogs earlier in the year and forced Male to panic. The Crimson seized control of the game and never looked back with 64-47 win and a trip to state tournament. The Seventh Region champion and tenth ranked Lady Crimsons will take on sixth ranked Murray this Thursday at BB&T Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. Tip off is set for noon.

Boys’ Basketball:

The boys’ basketball team went into the Seventh Region tournament looking to make some noise being one of the teams that not many people thought could make a deep run. They left with a bad taste in their mouth and unanswered questions. Late turnovers cost them a chance at another berth in the semifinals and the Crimsons fell 52-46 at Eastern. In an interview with RedEye sports editor Jack Grossman, Head Coach Jimmy Just praised his team despite the loss. “We were improving here at the end, and they played for each other, they cared about each other, and it was all about the team, not about the individuals,” he said. “These guys are the ultimate team players.”
