Girls’ Basketball:

The Lady Crimsons rolled into Northern Kentucky University for the KHSAA Sweet 16 looking to again prove themselves as one of the best teams in the state. The Manual student body packed BB&T Arena excited to see the girls continue their red hot postseason play. There was no more magic though. Star center Krys McCune injured her knee early which allowed the Region 1 Champion Murray exploit the Crimsons lack of size with many easy buckets around the rim. That combined with the Murray pressure that forced the Crimson into 28 turnovers led to a 58-41 Tiger victory. The right knee injury to McCune was later diagnosed as a torn ACL. The Lady Crimson finish the season at 21-8.

Baseball:

After rain cancelled their first two games, the Crimson finally opened their season down in Bowling Green against Allen County on Friday night. Starting pitcher Sam Clinard (12, #22) went the distance for the Crimsons and racked up 13 strikeouts but it was not enough as Manual fell 3-2.  They play at Collins tomorrow night at 6 p.m.

Boys’ Lacrosse:

The boys lacrosse team started their season this week and are quickly gelling. On Wednesday, they defeated Oldham County 14-6 and on Saturday disposed of Dixie Heights 15-9. Their next game will be at powerhouse Trinity at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Girls’ Lacrosse:

The girls lacrosse team started the season out emphatically, going on the road and defeating Mercy 12-4. The girls open their home schedule this Friday night when they take on the Eastern Eagles at 5:30 p.m.

Boys’ Tennis:

The boys got thrown right into the fire this weekend at the St. Xavier Duals. They played three matches on the day with a win over Henry Clay, a loss to Ashland and a tie with Russell because of darkness. The Crimson get a few days off before getting Butler on March 21 at 3:30 p.m. at Central Park.
