BHM: Letter from the Editors

Dear Readers,

This year as a staff we collectively decided to dedicate special coverage to the month of February because this year is the 60th anniversary of the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1957. We have compiled a group of stories and of things that are representative of our city’s and school’s struggle through this trying time. In our modern day society when events and attitudes mirror those of the 60s and when our country is divided over social issues concerning race, we believed it was important to highlight in our coverage some of these historical moments that have defined our society and our society’s stance and views towards minorities and what they mean and represent to our country’s national identity. We hope that this coverage encapsulates the spirit of Black History in our city and the struggle through trying times of our city and school.

Sincerely,

The Editors of Manual RedEye
