Manual’s boys’ varsity tennis team celebrated senior night with a 4-1 win over Louisville Collegiate School, overcoming early rain delays and showing grit and skill across all courts.
Despite the rain postponing the senior night ceremony, players and families waited it out, and were ultimately rewarded with sunny skies and dominant performances. All athletes gave their best effort, but it was especially meaningful for the seniors who closed out one of their final matches of the season and their high school tennis careers with a win.
On the singles one court, Sushanth Muthuluru (9, MST) faced off against defending state singles champion, Colby Berson. Though he lost 6-1, 6-2, Muthuluru never gave up, making difficult saves and showing determination through every point. James Beckley (10, J&C) took control at singles two, dominating his match with a 6-2, 6-1 win with strong serving and relentless defense. At singles three, Jake Olash (11, HSU) narrowly won a tight match of 6-2, 6-4.
Even in a tight match, the Crimsons showed resilience and kept the pressure on their opponents throughout.
The doubles one team of seniors Aryan Arusam (12, MST) and Yash Pathak (12, MST) delivered a standout performance, winning 6-0, 6-1. The duo scored many of their points off powerful serves and rapid returns, racking up multiple aces and forcing their opponents to play defense.
At doubles two, seniors Keanu Kawata (12, HSU) and Douglas Lin (12, MST) also brought the heat, securing a 6-0, 6-1 win with strong teamwork and consistent serving. Their chemistry on the court was evident, and their communication helped them stay in control from start to finish.
“It was fun, I got to play with Douglas, another senior. And I enjoyed playing, it was a good match,” Kawata said.
With the win, Manual celebrated not only a successful match but also the contributions of the senior players. The Crimsons now look ahead to the regional tournament, hoping to carry over momentum from a memorable senior night.
