On Thursday night, Manual’s JV softball team played against Meade County and finished the game in tie 0-0. They played only three innings due to several weather delays that night.
First Inning:
Manual’s Aja Dawson (#11, 10) swiftly picked up the ball and threw it to first base for the first out to start the game.
Manual’s defense continued to stay strong with Katelyn Matanich (#5, 9) and Dawson catching hits out of the air to achieve their last two outs. With this, Manual was able to trade in their gloves for bats.
Manual’s Takenzie Young (#2, 9) had a big hit to the outfield, running to second base. Shyanne Shrader (#20, 9) also hit a long drive far into the outfield, but her ball was caught in the air by Meade County’s defense, resulting in an out.
Meade County’s Amelia Padgett (#21, 8) then caught a Manual hit in the air to get the second out of the inning. This was then followed by another catch, this time from a hit by Manual’s Dawson, resulting in the third out.
At the end of the first inning, both teams were tied at 0-0.
Second Inning:
Manual’s defense started out strong with Bailey Fetcher (#10, 10) catching a Meade County hit to get the Lady Crimsons’ first out of the second inning.
Manual then immediately followed by achieving the second out after another caught ball.
Manual’s Brooklyn Bing (#21, 10) then stopped Meade County’s attempted double getting the third and final time of the inning.
To start out the bottom of the second, Manual’s Ella Davis (#32, 9) hit the ball in the air, but it was caught by a Meade County outfielder for the first out of the inning.
Manual’s Matanich then got hit by the thrower at home plate and walked to first base. Matanich was then able to run to second base during an attempted Manual hit.
Manual’s Abigail Multerer (#7, 9) then struck out at home plate, which resulted in the second out of the inning. This was followed by a hit from Fetcher, which was caught by Meade County for the third and final out of the inning
The second inning ended with both teams still tied at 0-0.
Third Inning:
Manual was back on the field for defense for the last time of the night.
A player from Meade County attempted to run to first base after a hit, but got out by Manual’s Shrader before they could make it. This is the first out of this inning.
Izzie Stull (#11, 7) from Meade County then hit the ball and made it to first base safely.
Manual’s Dawson was then able to stop Meade County’s run through the bases by tagging a runner with the ball. This resulted in the second out of the inning.
Manual’s defense then finished the top of the third inning with the final out after Manual’s Shrader got Meade County’s Alexcia Williams (#15, 9) out while she was attempting to run to first base.
Manual’s offense then took the field for the final time of the night.
Manual’s Young struck out for the first Lady Crimsons to start.
Then, Manual’s Allison Multerer (#8, 9) followed up with an attempted bunt, running to first base, but was ruled out in the process. This marked the second out.
Following Allison Multerer, Manual’s Shrader struck out as well at home plate, concluding the third inning, as well as the game.
The game concluded at the end of the third inning due to delays in the start of the game because of weather and because of no outfield lighting. The final score was 0-0.
Manual’s JV softball team plays their next game on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m. against Mercy.
