It’s hot. It’s fresh. It’s frothy. It’s… Rick Santorum?

He has surprisingly penetrated the Republican race to be nominee and, now with Santorum in the mix, I’m left wondering what’s wrong with the right in America.

Wasn’t there a time in America somewhere between 1964 and 2012 when a serious candidate for President couldn’t openly say the things that easily flow out of Santorum?

He’s said that he “doesn’t want to make black people’s lives better by just giving them other’s people’s money” in a discussion about welfare reform that had nothing to do about race.

He’s said that he “finds it almost remarkable for a black man” (like President Obama) to be against abortion (because since Black people used to not be considered people they have no right to claim embryos aren’t people or since white liberals have a secret, genocidal agenda to kill Black babies… right?)

And, of course, he’s drawn the comparison between same-sex relationships with that of “man-on-child or man-on-dog”… which makes complete and total sense.

But just because Santorum has won the primaries or caucuses in Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Colorado (four of the eight contests held) it doesn’t mean the GOP has rallied conservative support behind him. It simply means that they can’t give their favorite Mormon, “Massachusetts liberal”, “vulture capitalist”, Mitt Romney, the nomination just yet.
