This Week in Manual Academics: Dec. 4-9

YPAS Performances

The YPAS Orchestra department will hold a concert on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. on the mainstage. YPAS’ Choir department will hold a concert on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. on the mainstage. YPAS’ student composers will hold a concert on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. on the mainstage.

Random Acts of Kindness

Manual’s guidance office is collaborating with a friend of Manual to provide random acts of kindness before winter break. Students can nominate friends and other students to be a recipient by filling out a form to the guidance office by Dec. 7.

JCPS Employee Spotlight

In JCPS’ most recent edition of their employee spotlight, Julie Tallent (VA) explained her role at Manual and the importance of art.

TorchPrep ACT Bootcamp

Manual’s guidance office announced a six week bootcamp taking place throughout February and March on Mondays and Saturdays. According to the guidance office, the bootcamp increases ACT scores and includes over 30 hours of training with full-length tests and study plans. Students can sign up for the bootcamp until Feb. 5, 2018 and the cost is $399.

Winter Color Guard

The Manual Marching Band will host a winter color guard interest meeting on Monday, Dec. 4 at 2:45 p.m. The meeting is open to all current and prospective students. The winter color guard performs at approximately three basketball games and a winter guard competition.
