This Week in Manual Academics: March 5 – 10

GSA Final Round 

Every magnet in Manual had students move on to the final round of the Governor’s School for the Arts for 2018. The finalists were announced last Wednesday, Feb. 28, and have moved onto live auditions or reviews at Centre College. You can find the full list of GSA scholars here.

Girls’ Soccer Fundraiser

The girls’ soccer team is holding a fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen on Shelbyville Road all day on Tuesday, March 6. You can find the flyer to present in the office.

ACT Workshop

The Louisville Urban League Youth Development and Education Department is hosting an ACT prep workshop on March 6 at the Louisville Urban League from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. They will specifically focus on math and science portions of the ACT. You can reserve your spot here. 

U.S. Navy Band Performance

The U.S. Navy Band will perform at YPAS on Saturday, March 10 at 7 p.m. The performance is free, however, you can also reserve tickets ahead of time to guarantee a seat. Otherwise, non-ticket holders will be granted entry after the reserved ticket holders are seated.

Orchestra and Band Concert

YPAS orchestra will hold a concert on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the YPAS Mainstage and YPAS band will hold a concert on Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at the same location.

Mr. Essig leads the band members as they perform a jazz piece.

Dance Festival

Students from YPAS’ dance department left Louisville last Wednesday, Feb. 28 to go to an out-of-state high school dance competition.
