The Manual Boys’ Varsity soccer team ended their four game losing streak on Thursday night, by defeating Central 6-0 and drawing with Oldham County 1-1 at Manual Stadium.

Despite already playing a game versus the Yellow Jackets, the Crimsons were able to bounce back and play a competitive game against a strong Oldham squad just two hours later.
Manual was able to easily get the victory against Central, but the Colonels proved to be a much tougher opponent.
“We didn’t play our best, but with all of the soccer that we’ve been playing we’re happy to take a draw,” said Noah Braden (11, #23).
Just under five minutes into the game, Oldham player Clayton Worth (12,#3) was able to chip the ball over Manual goalkeeper Andrew Hagan (10, #00) to put Oldham up 1-0.
Minutes later the Colonels nearly scored again after Lee Kimbell’s (12, #16) bicycle kick sailed just over the crossbar.
Manual had several opportunities to score in the first half but was never able to capitalize.
“We just have to keep a cool head,” said Head Coach Bob Ramsey, while addressing players at halftime. “We have forty minutes left, and know we can play some quality soccer.”
Six minutes into the second half, Oldham County goalkeeper Dean Morgan (12,#00) suffered a head injury after making a diving save. After several minutes, Morgan was able to walk off of the field on his own. He would return later in the game.
The Crimsons controlled the tempo for much of the second half. Riley Hook (10, #25) scored the equalizing goal for the Crimsons with 5:29 remaining.
Hook declined to comment.
Manual now holds a record of 4-5-1. The Crimsons will next face off against Lexington Catholic at 11 a.m. in Lexington.
