The Lady Crimsons defeated the Assumption Rockets 59-35 to continue their sensational start to the season. Despite the absence of Head Coach Jeffrey Sparks due to the birth of his newborn baby, Manual prevailed on the defensive side of the ball and turned turnovers into free points.
“The girls took care of business on the defensive end and played a lot of ball pressure,” Assistant Coach Chris Morris said. “We have a great team defense scheme and that’s what I credit to winning this game.”
When Manual was unable to drive to the basket, they either passed the ball around or opened up for the three-point shot.
“We shot very well from three-point range,” Morris said. “Our main goal on offense is to share the ball to open up shots, which we did a great job at. Our goals are to pass the ball and play full court on ball defense.”
Even though Sparks was not in attendance, the team still carried each other and played their hardest.
“We played great even without our coach here today,”Amy Ballard (11) said. “We played a hard defense and listened to the assistant coaches, we were very aggressive.”
The win at Assumption increases Manuals season to a 4-0 start, and they will look to continue this streak Friday night against the Seneca Red Hawks. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
