The Crimsons Against Cancer are now selling tickets at their table outside the freshman cafeteria for their annual dance marathon, the “FTK (For The Kids) Dance,” which will take place on March 20.
“We are super excited about the dance, we have been prepping all year, and ticket sales will start this week at $15 and will be $20 at the door. Tickets include a t-shirt and dinner,” Lizzy Hornung (12, HSU).
The CAC dance marathon is one of their largest fundraisers of the year. Last year they raised over $5000 for pediatric cancer.
During the event, participants stand or dance for the entire five hours to show their support for child cancer patients. At the dance, the club releases the total amount of money they have raised throughout the school year.
Anna Carpenter (10, HSU) has been part of CAC since her freshman year and has attended several fundraisers.
“We hope to see everyone out on the dance floor to support kids with cancer. We do all of this for them, and I think it is really important to come together as a Manual community and show out,” Carpenter said.
ITS DANCE TIME!!!❤️🎗❤️🎗 Ticket sales for the dance begin tomorrow during lunches starting at $10 cash or check made out to fccla (includes t-shirt, food, fun activities)!!! Tickets increase in price every week so make sure to get them asap!! *more ticket info on the story* #FORTHEKIDS
Additionally, on Thursday, Feb. 27, CAC raised $500 for Norton’s Pediatric Cancer Unit during their skate night at Robin’s Roost Roller Skating.
“The purpose of the event was to raise awareness about Crimsons Against Cancer and pediatric cancer,” says Lizzy Hornung (12, HSU), the co-president of the club.
Robin’s Roost Roller Skating in Hikes Point hosted the skate night, and around 50 people showed up in support of the cause. This was CAC’s first-ever skating event.
“It was perfect because we got to go out and do something that everyone enjoys for a great cause,” Jackson Hiegel (11, YPAS) said.
The club’s members prepared for weeks by advertising on Instagram, putting up flyers around the school, and setting up an information table to sell tickets in front of the freshmen cafeteria.
Thanks to everyone who showed up to skate night last Thursday and made it such a success… NOW ITS DANCE TIME🤩🎗❤️💛 #forthekids #crimsonsagainstcancer
