Louisville is a vibrant city filled with arts and culture. From a wide diversity of cuisine to a vibrant music scene, the city has much to offer. With a new year, comes new opportunities to experience the arts. Here are a few of the upcoming events to check out in 2025.
Five phenomenal Broadway shows will be coming to Louisville this season: “Moulin Rouge” from Feb. 18 – Mar. 2; “Peter Pan” from Mar. 25 – 30; “& Juliet” from Apr. 22 – 27; “Shucked” from May 13 – 18; and “The Wiz” from July 29 – Aug. 3. All of these shows are renowned for their success on Broadway and it will be a wonderful experience for all who go. Tickets are sold here.
While the professionals will be performing downtown, at the Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) students will be taking the stage. Beginning Feb. 21, YPAS dance will be presenting their 2025 Dance Concert. For any dance enthusiasts, this show is a must-see.
Later in March, YPAS theater students will present self written plays with student actors. Slate 1, presents: “Rocky Hotdog Picture Show,” “Stuck With You,” “The Patient” and “If You Give a Horse a High School” on March 7 and 8. Slate 2 presents: “Phantom Halloween,” “The Elevator,” “Revisit,” “Grounded” and “Influencer Showdown” on March 14 and 15. To see any YPAS performances, the purchase link is here.
“Phantom Halloween” is written by Andy Wallace (11, YPAS) and directed by David Pellman (11, HSU).
“Phantom Halloween is about a Halloween decoration store, but the interactive decorations are alive. Despite their spookie exteriors, they wish to escape the store and share their comedy troupe, the Phunny Phantoms with the world,” Andy Wallace (11, YPAS) said. This wild and creative show is featured in the second slate.
“Revisit,” is written by Pellman and directed by Madalyn Durst (11, YPAS). Pellman describes the story of Ashley and Brian, two best friends who, in college, fall in love but have to battle amidst adversity. Pellman and Durst present a tale as old as time in a new fashion which is sure to attract viewers all over Louisville.
Music is a universal language and sound transcends any barrier. On Valentine’s Day, The Louisville Orchestra is performing Ravel’s Romantic Reverie at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. This concert consists of French and Japanese inspired piano ballads conducted by Ken-David Masur.
Back at YPAS, the theater department is working on “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.” YPAS has not released when the show will be ready for the public but stay tuned.
2025 is a packed year for Louisville and duPont Manual. Any one of these shows, musicals and concerts is worth seeing and experiencing. Take friends, families and loved ones to have fun and make new memories.
