On Tuesday, March 18th, Manual’s girls’ JV lacrosse team put on an impressive performance, shutting out Mercy 13-0 in a game that showcased their dominance from start to finish.

First Quarter:

The game kicked off with Mercy securing initial possession, but Manual quickly regained control with a well-timed stick check. Despite a foul giving Mercy a brief opportunity, Manual’s defense held firm, forcing the action towards Mercy’s end of the field.

The first goal came after a series of relentless attacks by Manual. Baya Friedman (#49, 10) broke through Mercy’s defense to put Manual on the scoreboard. Not long after, Abigail Seow (#56, 10) followed with another goal, showcasing Manual’s offensive power.

As Manual’s attack kept the pressure high,  Allie Roof (#6, 10) added a goal, and moments later, another goal was scored to close out the first quarter with a 4-0 lead. Throughout the opening quarter, Manual’s defense was impenetrable, rarely allowing the ball to cross into their territory.

Second Quarter:

Starting off the second quarter, Suzetta Fuller (#15, 10) secured the ball for the Lady Crimsons, setting the tone for more offensive dominance. Jacqueline Luber (#51, 10) capitalized with a clean goal from the 8-meter line, and Fuller followed with a fast run from midfield straight to the goal.

Manual’s extended their lead to 6-0. Shortly after, Grace Yates (#23, 10) scored back-to-back goals, pushing the score to 8-0, and Seow added another before halftime, bringing the score to a comfortable 9-0 lead by the end of the second quarter.

Third Quarter:

Manual wasted no time maintaining their momentum as the second half got underway. Mercy briefly gained possession after a hit, but Manual’s defense quickly neutralized the threat, regaining control of the ball. Anna Colvin (#42, 10) delivered a powerful shot from the 8-meter line to bring the score to 10-0, setting the tone for the remainder of the half.

As the third quarter progressed, Manual’s bench players also stepped up, showcasing the team’s support and versatility. Caleigh Brooks (#16, 11) scored after an impressive buildup from midfield, further widening the gap to 11-0. Soon after, Fuller, a standout through the game, charged through Mercy’s defense once again to score, pushing the lead to 12-0 by the end of the quarter.

Fourth Quarter:

In the final quarter, the team maintained their aggressive pace despite their overwhelming lead. Laila Hassan (#27, 10) delivered a perfectly timed shot, threading it past Mercy’s goalkeeper, sealing the game with a final goal, bringing the score to 13-0.

Manual’s combination of solid defense and harsh offensive pressure throughout the game made it a decisive victory, as they shut out Mercy to secure the win.

Their next game will be against Eastern at the CAL Icebreaker Tournament on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
