In a consecutive pair of home games against Male High School September 7, the girls’ varsity soccer team followed up its 2-1 win against Male last year by winning 4-2, and the girls’ junior varsity team tied 0-0.
Max Zimmer (11) made the first goal of the varsity game, ending the game at half time with a score of 1-0. Manual dominated early in the second half, pushing the score to 4-0. Second half scorers were Jessica Deschamp (11), Samantha Tilton (10) and Natalie Shields (11). Male then made a comeback, scoring two goals in a row, but without enough time left in the game to fully recover, they lost to the Lady Crimsons.
“We are always pumped for the games against Male! They add a lot of extra motivation, being our rivals. We had so many fans come out and support us, and hopefully we will continue with the good season,” said varsity player Lauren Fiscus (10).
“The first half of the JV game was more defensive play on our side,” said Gabby Torres (10). “Their offense was on fire but by the second half our offense pulled through.”
“The first half we weren’t giving our fullest effort; Male had possession the majority of the time,” said Caroline Folz (10). “But we were ready for action the second half!”
