On Monday, Oct. 21, the Manual girls’ soccer team began their run in the district tournament. Their first round matchup was against none other than the Male Bulldogs. Manual played Male previously in the regular season and beat them handily, 5-1. It was no different this time around as the Crimsons defeated Male, 3-0.
“It was nice to beat Male this time around after they ended our season last year in the first round of the district tournament,” said Kinsey Ball (12, #8), “it was the perfect result for my last game at Manual Stadium.”
After a satisfying victory against Male, Manual advanced to the second round of the tournament, scheduled to play CAL. This was Manual’s second encounter with CAL in the 2013-2014 season. The game began and CAL got off to a good start, scoring the first goal of the game early on in the first half. This would end up being the only goal of the game, as Manual and CAL held each other off for the remainder of the game.
“It was a tough game because their defense is so solid and hard to get past,” said Danielle Dorsey (12, #27).”They got ahead early and that’s what made the difference in the game.”
“We did better this year than we did last year so I’m happy in that sense, but were still going to work hard next year and hopefully have an even better result in districts,” said Kylie Krupilski (11, #29).
