The Central High Yellow Jackets upset the Lady Crimsons 60-57. Manual lacked offensive flow throughout the game. The Crimsons were also unable to take advantage of layups and free throws. In addition, the Lady Crimsons did not execute defensively.
“We could have won this game, but we had to execute better on the defensive end and we didn’t do it at all tonight,” head coach Jeffery Sparks (Social Studies) said. “We have to do a better job of containing the basketball, we have to do better defending, and we didn’t shut people down who were hot, we missed our free-throws. We were under fifty percent from the free throw line, that’s inexcusable, we should be above seventy (percent).”
Throughout the game, Manual made too many careless mistakes, such as missing easy layups.
“We dug a hole we couldn’t get out of,” Angelica McBride (11, #24) said. “We drill layups all the time and whenever we went to the basket tonight we missed our wide open shots, we couldn’t finish our layups. We left players open on the defensive end and they took the open shoots, they hit them all as well.”
Manual will look to their Friday game to fix the mistakes that plagued them throughout this game. Friday they will play Sacred Heart at Manual. Tipoff is at 7:30.
