Manual thoroughly trounced Bullitt Central in a 57-17 shutout to advance to round two of the Louisville Invitational Tournament (LIT). Manual’s defense held firm all night, only allowing 17 points, and the offense continued to score no matter what defensive strategy Bullitt Central used.
“We just all in all gave it our best effort tonight,” guard Tonysha Curry (10, #23) said. “Everything was clicking and we went for every ball. We tried hard for every rebound and we passed the ball around looking for the open shot. On offense we just passed the ball and every play, we passed the ball around and got the best shot we could.”
Manual’s offense more than tripled BC’s points by halftime, and by the start of the third quarter, the running clock was in effect.
“We started out great tonight,” Sydney Mcblane (11, #22) said. “We came out hot and stayed hot all night. On defense we did great. We held them to only eight in the first half.”
Manual will face rival Male in the second round of the LIT at Bellarmine University this Wednesday night at 8 p.m. The game should be well-contested.
“I’m very excited for our next game,” Cury said. “We’ll see what happens. No matter what, it will be a great game.”
Male is 14-1 this season, and it should be a well-contested game as they face off against the Lady Crimsons.
“We’re ready for Male tomorrow,” assistant coach Corey Gainey said. “Winning the way we did tonight is big for our confidence for tomorrow’s game. Emotions are where they need to be. They aren’t to high but nor are they to low.”
