The baseball team was defeated by Male High School 7-2 on Tuesday, May 24 in the first round of the district tournament.
Male jumped to a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning off of senior pitcher Craig Pearcy, with 2 hits and a walk. They extended their lead in the 3rd inning, scoring 4 more runs after 2 errors from senior Stephen Surrell and one error from sophomore Nathan Smith.
The Crimsons scored in the 6th inning, when sophomore Harrison Scanlon was walked after two singles by seniors Trey Litsey and Craig Pearcy, and again in the 7th inning when Surrell hit a single after junior Josh Bynum and sophomore Nathan Smith got base hits.
“Losing that game was not only tough because it ended our season to our rival Male, but because we had worked so hard all season and put in so much effort that it was hard to see it wasted like that,” said Bynum. “I’ve played with those seniors for 3 years and have had so many memories, so it’s hard to accept that I’ll never get to play with them again.”
