This Week in Manual Athletics: April 17

Baseball

When it comes to baseball, the Crimsons had a mixed week. After defeating district foe Central on Monday 15-1, the team dropped two straight games, one to Butler 4-1 on Wednesday and then one to the Ballard Bruins 8-1 on Thursday. Manual was able to get refocused though, as they defeated Marion County 3-1 on Saturday. They now await a home matchup against Shawnee on Tuesday. The first pitch set for 6:30 p.m.

Softball

The team continued their hot play going 2-0 on the week. Their wins included a 15-0 drubbing of district rival Shawnee and a 9-1 win over North Bullitt behind a one hitter by senior pitcher Madison Williams. Williams signed her letter of intent on Wednesday to play for Jackson State University along with Abigail Harper (12, #8) who signed with Centre. The team now looks ahead to a home game against Portland Christian on Monday at 5:00 p.m.

Boys’ Lacrosse

The Crimsons had a rough start to the week but finished strong. On Wednesday they fell to Dunbar 11-6 and then the very next day stumbled against Collegiate losing 11-9. The team was able to regain their confidence by soundly defeating Tates Creek 12-5. Manual now will face Ballard at home on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

Boys’ Tennis

Going 2-1, Manual had a respectable week on the courts. Included among their wins were a Tuesday victory over KCD and a Friday victory over Male. The one blemish was a loss to Ballard on Thursday. The Crimsons take on CAL on the road at 4:00 p.m on Monday.
