Friday night, Manual Football traveled to Eastern High School and accomplished a shutout win, in which the final score was 43-0.
First Half:
The Eastern Eagles received the kickoff to start the game but were unsuccessful on their first sequence down the field, not passing the 50 yard line.
In the Crimsons first offensive sequence, Quarterback Eli Creech (#10, 12) connected with Willis Nofsinger (#5, 11) and Nofsinger ran from the reception of the catch to the endzone, for the first score of the evening. The score was 7-0 after Parker Friedman (#53, 11) completed an extra point.
Manual’s Defense continued and the next two sequences made by Eastern still could not reach beyond the 50 yard line.
Manual’s offense did slow down. Creech connected with Wide Receiver Coryon Alston (#3, 12) for a 40 yard touchdown pass. Friedman’s PAT was once again successful, the score 14-0.
In the next couple of offensive sequences for the Eagles, they began to get closer to the endzone, but they continued to punt the ball right back to the Crimsons.
Manual got right back down the field and Gerian Traynor (#34, 10) rushed for the third touchdown of the night. Friedman’s (#53,11) PAT was successful. The Crimsons extended their lead 21-0.
Right before the end of the quarter, Manual once again ended up in the endzone, but due to penalties, it did not count.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Eastern’s Running Back Cameron Russ (#7,11) rushed to inside the 1 yard line. The next play, the Eagles fumble the ball and Manual’s Dequoria Warner (#2, 10) ran it 95 yards to the endzone. Friedman’s PAT was successful, Crimsons led 28-0.
The Eagles continued to struggle offensively, while their defense did successfully get Manual’s offense back on the sideline.
Even after the Crimson’s offense went a few sequences without scoring, Creech (#10, 12) connected with Charlie Flowers (#15, 12) for a 30 yard receiving touchdown. The snap for the point after touchdown was botched but, fortunately a two-point conversion was successfully completed. Manual extended their lead to 36-0.
Before the end of the half, Manual’s Rashad High (#88, 9) caught a 25 yard pass from Creech (#10,12). Crimsons leading 43-0.
Manual’s defense was solid throughout the first half, shutting down the Eagles offense.
“Just these guys working hard at all times, believing in the playing, making sure that the script is what the script is,” Coach Brandon Ditto said.
Second Half:
After a high scoring first half, the Crimsons decided to play their secondary players. In doing this, it ensures starters will not get injured and gets younger players’ experience, creating more depth for the team.
“I just want everyone to be healthy, I don’t really care if we win or lose in the regular season but as the playoffs come around we need everybody healthy,” Christopher Jones (#58, 12) said.
The second half was back and forth between sequences for the Crimsons and Eagles, but neither team was ever able to score.
The Manual Crimsons won 43-0.
The next game for the Crimsons is next Friday at home against South Warren, kickoff is 7:30.
