In celebration of Manual’s historic victory against Male last Friday, Manual hosted a brief success rally on Wednesday, November 6. As students entered the gym, the marching band played “Stand Up And Cheer.” Afterwards, Manual’s cheerleaders led The Big Red Rumble chant.
Next, the football team was introduced. They stormed into the gym, cheering and holding the coveted barrel to celebrate their defeat of longtime rival school Male. Athletic Director David Zuberer gave a heartfelt speech, explaining that this would be our first time seeing the barrel in 11 years.
“We have beaten Male and St. X in the same year for the first time in 30 years,” Zuberer said.
Zuberer also gave shoutouts to the seniors, giving a few of them the opportunity to speak in front of the crowd. Jaylen Hayes (12, HSU) thanked the student body for their support and giving the team the energy to beat male. This initiated a wave of excitement from the crowd.
In addition, Manual’s executive council received praise for their work planning and decorating for red white week, and the girls cross country team were commended for being state runners up on Saturday’s meet.
The rally concluded with the chant “Stand Up and Cheer,” and a new goal from Zuberer, a state championship for the football team.
“This is the year,” Zuberer said.
