This past Thursday, Nov. 14, Manual’s girls’ varsity bowling team performed strong against the Sacred Heart Valkyries, dominating both the regular games and the baker rounds to secure a victory.

Game One:

Manual came out strong in the first game with outstanding performances from multiple players. Taylor Helmer (#4, 10) and Riley Roberts (#32, 12) set the tone early, bowling back to back strikes in the first two frames.

By the fourth frame, the team continued to build momentum as T. Helmer bowled another strike. Lily Kilgore (#12, 12), Olivia Helmer (#13, 12), Liv Kunkle (#8, 12) and Jordyn Werner

(#69, 12) followed with spares, keeping Manual in the lead.

Reaching the end of game one, both teams were continued their respective streaks, with the Lady Crimsons’ Riley Borders (#30, 12), Kilgore, Kunkle, and Werner bowling strikes. The final frame saw Grayson Manning (#7, 11) bowl a spare, while Roberts finished the game off with a strike and spare. Werner ended the first game with two strikes and knocking down seven pins. Manual ended the game with a score of 1270 points, securing the win of game one with an impressive finish.

Game Two:

The Lady Crimsons did not slow down in game two. Starting strong again, Manning opened with a spare and Borders bowled a strike, with Kunkle and Roberts continuing their hot streaks with spares and strikes, setting the tone for another solid team performance.

In the third frame, the team continued their strong play with Grace Fridy (#13, 12) and Borders picking up spares. By the fourth and fifth frames, the team maintained consistent scoring with spares and strikes from Manning, the Helmer sisters, Kilgore and Roberts.

The sixth and seventh frame saw more strikes for Kilgore, Kunkle, and Borders, with Manning and Werner adding spares. Kunkle also delivered an impressive turkey, an instance where a player bowls three strikes in a row in the tenth frame. Roberts added another strike to seal the game.

Baker Games:

In the first Baker game, Manual maintained their momentum, securing a 161-107 victory over Sacred Heart. Kilogore, Manning, T. Helmer, Werner, and Roberts bowled many strikes and spares throughout the 10 frames. T. Helmer finished the eighth frame with a strike and Roberts finished strong with a spare and added an additional nine points.

The second Baker game was much tighter with both teams tied going into the final tenth frame. Roberts came in the clutch, with a spare and another nine pins, giving Manual the edge to win 138-117.

Manual defeated Sacred Heart handily, marking their second regular season win.

“I feel like all of our girls did really good and I’m very proud of everyone, and everybody’s improvement. We did a great job fighting” Kilgore said.
