Manual bowling wins on senior night, beating Southern and Ballard

On Thursday night, Manual girls’ bowling team defeated Southern and the boys’ team defeated Ballard on senior night. 

The 16 Manual seniors were surrounded by their family, friends and coaches to celebrate prior to the start of the match. 

Girls vs Southern

Game One:

The first game started out with a strike from Manual’s Morgan White (12, HSU) in the first frame. 

Manual’s Lily Kilgore (12, HSU), Liv Kunkle (12, VA), and Riley Roberts (12, J&C) then followed through with strikes of their own in the second frame.

Katie Dikes (12, J&C) then got a spare in the third frame and followed through with a strike in the fourth frame. 

Both Riley Borders (12, HSU) and Roberts got strikes in the fifth frame for the Crimsons, with Grace Fridy (12, J&C) also getting one in the sixth frame. 

There were several strikes in the seventh frame from Grayson Manning (11, HSU), Kunkle, and Roberts. 

The eighth and ninth frames had strikes by Borders, Roberts, Manning, and Kilgore. 

In the tenth frame, Kunkle had both a spare and a strike, while White had two strikes. 

Game Two:

Kunkle and Roberts start out the second game with strikes for the Lady Crimsons in the first frame.

Then, there were three strikes in frame two from White, Roberts, and Kunkle. 

The fourth frame then had strikes by Dikes, Kunkle and Roberts, with spares by the other Lady Crimsons. 

Manual had a good sweep in the seventh frame with four strikes from Borders, White, Roberts and Fridy. 

In the tenth frame, Kunkle got three strikes, while Kilgore got a spare and a strike. 

The girls’ team also defeated Southern during the two baker games, losing the first one only by a couple of pins, but handily winning the second game by a huge margin. 

“This year’s group was a tight knit group and they were committed and I can tell you right now I literally love every one of them,” head coach Ken Rowan said.  

Boys vs Ballard 

Game One:

To start off, Manual’s Sean French (12, HSU) and Thomas Dyer (12, HSU) had strikes in the second frame of their first game against Ballard. 

In the third frame, French, Dyer, Caleb Seow (12, MST), and Alex Jones (12, MST) all got strikes. 

French, Dyer, and Seow bowled strikes once again, this time in the fifth frame. 

The Crimsons sweeped in the eighth frame with strikes from French, Seow, Daniel Abrams (12, HSU), Jackson Jones (12, J&C), and Jason Millard (12, HSU). 

To end the boys’ first game, there was a spare by Cole Seraphine (11, HSU) and three strikes by J. Jones. 

Game Two:

French, J. Jones, and Millard had strikes to start the first frame off. 

Manual then had multiple strikes in the second and third frames bowled by Seraphine, Seow, and Dyer. 

In the fourth frame there were strikes by Abrams and J. Jones to bring the Crimsons’ scores up. 

They then had a sweep of 5 strikes in the seventh frame by Seraphine, Seow, Abrams, J. Jones, and Millard. 

In the tenth frame, Seow had two strikes, J. Jones had a strike and Millard also had one strike to finish off the second game.      

The boys’ team also beat Ballard during the two baker games, tying with them in the first, but winning the second, ultimately beating Ballard altogether.
