On Wednesday night, Manual’s wrestling team faced off against Fairdale Bulldogs in a closely contested match, narrowly falling to the Bulldogs with a final score of 42-40.
Throughout the night, the Crimsons’ delivered a number of standout performances, securing quick pins and key wins. Setting the tone for Manual, Emiliano Casey del Rubio (11, HSU) delivered an impressive fight, securing two takedowns and multiple escapes to earn Manual 4 points in his match.
Additionally impressive was Will Jeziorski (12, HSU), who overcame a tough match up with a key reversal and near fall, adding six points for Manual. Luke Galloway (10, HSU) brought in another win for the Crimsons, pinning his opponent in just 1:08, the fastest time of the night.
Manual continued to pick up momentum with victories from Joel Huffstickler (10, HSU), who pinned his opponent after a quick takedown, as well as wins from Dawson Schroering (10, HSU), Darion Allen (11, HSU) and Devin Allen (11, HSU), who all earned six points each through decisive pins or forfeits.
Despite these strong performances, Fairdale held their own and won by a slim margin of two points.
“We had a lot of great effort, especially from our young JV wrestlers and our girls, a lot of good aggressive moves and when we were in tough matches we didn’t give up,” coach Evan “Coach G” Geraci said.
The Crimsons will take on the North Oldham Mustangs at North Oldham next Saturday, Feb. 8 a.m.
