On Wednesday, Feb. 29, Mr. Hamric (Spanish), the sponsor of the Campus Life club, left Manual to join the Air Force as a linguist. In the week before, a party was held for Hamric that allowed the students and youth leaders to have one last special meeting with him.
“Mr. Hamric was a great part of our Campus Life group at Manual,” said Ben Bryant, a youth pastor who leads discussions in the group. “He was one of the most active volunteers/sponsors I have ever known in my 15-plus years of doing youth ministry. Even though he was not able to be there 100 percent of the time, when he was there, he gave 100 percent of himself to the group.”
The students in Hamric’s class as well as the participators in Campus Life said they would miss him. “Mr. Hamric was and is an awesome teacher,” said Victus McDaniel (11). “I feel that he impacted my education heavily by providing extra practice and help to me whenever he could. I’m very sad to see him go.”
“Mr. Hamric is a very good, dedicated teacher who is efficient with his time. You can tell he really cares about our learning,” said Amy Pan, a sophomore in Mr. Hamric’s Spanish 2 class, “He has had an impact on my education because I’ve learned so much from him, and most of what he’s taught me is still stuck in my head. Even when I struggled with some concepts in Spanish I knew that eventually, with him as my teacher, I would figure it out.”
