Idea Festival: Dr. Diane Snow on the functions of the human brain

“Spinal Cord Injury and Regeneration: Why Don’t Nerves Grow Back to Where They Were After an Injury?” by Dr. Diane Snow

The functional organization of the adult nervous system depends upon the connections formed during development. Dr Snow research focuses on a class of extracellular matrix molecules that become unregulated after an injury and they contribute to failed regeneration of the nerve. This results in a lack of recovery of the function of the individual after the injury and the research is identifying strategies and therapies for the treatment of central nervous system injury.
