On Feb. 25, 2025, the PNC Broadway in Louisville announced their lineup for the 2025-2026 Broadway season. The list features five shows that have not been to Louisville before and four returning shows. In order of appearance, they are: “MJ,” “Water for Elephants,” “Kimberly Akimbo,” “The Great Gatsby,” Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” “Riverdance 30 – The New Generation,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Hamilton” and “The Outsiders.”
Tickets for these shows are now available for those who are renewing a subscription membership for season tickets. Those who wish to purchase a season ticket membership will be able to do so starting April 2, 2025. Tickets for individual shows will go on sale 4-6 weeks before the show.
“MJ”
“MJ” tells the story of famous singer Michael Jackson’s career, specifically focusing on his 1992 “Dangerous World Tour.” It is a jukebox musical, featuring songs from Jackson’s own discography, including “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal” and “Beat It,” to name a few. This show will open the season, coming to Louisville Sept. 9-14, 2025. The show is recommended for those over the age of 8 years old.
“Water for Elephants”
“Water for Elephants” will be in town Oct. 14-19, 2025, marking the show’s first appearance in Louisville. Following a family tragedy, Jacob Jankowski, a former veterinary student, takes a train that he soon finds he is sharing with a traveling circus. While he travels with them, he falls in love with a performer, Marlena, and the two must hide their affair from Marlena’s cruel husband, the ringmaster. The recommended age rating for this show is 8 years old or older.
“Kimberly Akimbo”
“Kimberly Akimbo” is about a teenage girl who ages faster than normal due to a rare disease. The show follows her life after her family moves to a small town in New Jersey and all the struggles that come with it. The show is coming to town Dec. 2-7, 2025. It is recommended for those over the age of 10 years old.
“The Great Gatsby”
Many will likely recognize this show after its choreography went viral over the summer as part of a TikTok dance trend. “The Great Gatsby,” based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel of the same name, will be in Louisville Feb. 10-15, 2026. Nick Carraway, after arriving in New York City, decides to rent a cottage next to a giant mansion owned by mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby. The story shows the wealth and luxury of the 1920’s social elite, but also the dark side of society and the dangerous things a broken heart can drive a person to do. The recommended age rating for this show is 12 years old or older.
Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”
The musical version of the beloved Disney classic will be in Louisville March 10-15, 2026. This musical is open to those over the age of 6 years old. After living an arrogant life, a prince is cursed to spend his days as a terrifying beast until he can convince someone to love him. After the prince imprisons her father, the village’s local bookworm, Belle, makes a deal to swap places with her father and remain at the castle. However, as she spends more and more time with the prince, she begins to think that perhaps he is not so monstrous after all.
“Riverdance 30 – The New Generation”
The season special is a show that celebrates Irish culture and international dances. This show will be in Louisville March 24-26, 2026. The recommended age rating is 3 years old or older.
“The Book of Mormon”
The story of two eccentric Mormon missionaries on their missionary trip to Uganda takes a serious turn when they discover that due to the harsh realities of living in the area, the locals they were sent to convert are unimpressed by their preaching. To overcome this challenge, the missionaries use unconventional methods and learn a little more about what the point of religion is along the way. This show will be in town May 5-10, 2026. Due to its crude humor and adult language, it is recommended for those who are 13 years old or older.
“Hamilton”
The best selling historical broadway musical returns to Louisville June 30 – July 12, 2026. The musical tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton through genres such as hip-hop, R&B and jazz. This show is recommended for individuals over the age of 10 years old.
“The Outsiders”
“The Outsiders,” the last show of the season and based on S.E. Hinton’s novel of the same name, is a story of family and classism. Ponyboy Curtis is a member of the Greasers, a group of lower socioeconomic status than their rivals, the wealthy Socials (or “Socs” for short). Tensions are high between these two groups of teenagers, who are constantly fighting each other. When a tragedy befalls one of the Socs, the tension between the two groups erupts. As Ponyboy and his friends navigate their way through the mess, they learn what it truly means to be a family and a hero. The recommended age rating for this show is 10 years old or older, and will be in town Aug. 18-23, 2026.
