Things to Do: Weekend of February 24-26

GLOW
-Key Club sponsored event where Manual bands Goodluck Joseph, The Sunday Proposition, Price and Bryce, NeNe, Think Harder, and Rainy Daze will be performing. Dj’s DJJD and Cyntrix will also be disk jockeying the event. There will be a Bollywood instructor at 8:00, Zumba instructor at 10:30, Henna and Neon T-shirts all night, Papa John’s Pizza at 8:00, Chick-fil-A at 10:00, and Ce Fiore Frozen Yogurt all night long.

2 food tickets are included with admission, but you’ll need to purchase more tickets for additional food and activities. For extra food tickets, bring items for the Kids Center. Acceptable items in exchange for food and activity tickets are:

•Cake, muffin, and cookie mixes (1 mix=2 tickets)

•Microwave meals- non-frozen such as Chef Boyardee, Easy Mac, Campbell’s Soup, etc. (1 large meal/2 small meals=2 tickets)

•Drink mixes for measuring and mixing- Gatorade, Country Time lemonade, etc. (1 package=2 tickets)

•Individually wrapped Goldfish packets (1 package=2 tickets)

•Pudding cups (1 package=2 tickets)

•Individually wrapped soft candies such as Twizzlers, Smarties, and Tootsie Rolls (2 candies=2 tickets)

Donated items will all go to the Kids Center’s ADL (Activities of Daily Living) Kitchen to help teach patients basic cooking skills. Items will be collected upon entrance to the event.

All Manual Students are welcome with a student ID, and students from other high schools are welcome too, with a signed waiver (click link for waiver) and their student ID from the school they attend. Proceeds go to the Kids Center for Pediatric Therapy.

KENTUCKY DERBY FESTIVAL STUDENT ART DISPLAY
Winning entries of student-submitted artwork depicting Kentucky Derby Festival events will be on display starting Feb. 1, and ending April 27.

OHIO VALLEY MILITARY SOCIETY SHOW OF SHOWS “THE NATION’S BEST MILITARY COLLECTOR’S SHOW”
Exposition of military artifacts such as documents, books, uniforms, weaponry, medals and more. A number of famous military veterans will be in attendance to speak.

CARL CASPER’S CUSTON AND THE LOUISVILLE NEW CAR ANNUAL AUTO SHOW
Annual Car show featuring custom cars, old and new. The show boasts over 750,000 square feet of space to showcase custom-built cars. Zendaya Coleman, who plays Rocky of Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, A&E’s Billy Bretherton, better known as Billy The Exterminator,  and the Animal Planet’s Turtle Man, Ernie Lee Brown, Jr. will be in attendance to sign autographs, along with other small screen celebrities.

F.A.T. FRIDAY TROLLEY HOP
Free, fun, and F.A.T. (Frankfort Avenue trolley), the F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop offers free parking and free trolley rides to local shops, boutiques, galleries, bistros, pubs, museums, and venues of entertainment on the last Friday of every month.

CATHOLIC CHURCH LENTEN FISH FRIES
More than 30 Catholic parishes in Louisville are holding Lenten Fish Fries every Friday up to Easter, starting this weekend. Meatless food is prepared and sold, game and activity booths are typically available, and good company is around.

RENOIR TO CHAGALL: PARIS AND THE ALLURE OF COLOR EXHIBIT
Exhibit features French Impressionists’ and Post-Impressionists’ work. Among the artists are some of the most renowned and famed artists in art history, including Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Mary Cassatt, Henri Matisse, Paul Gauguin, Georges Braque, and Marc Chagall. If you are a student of Ms. Norman’s junior classes, you will receive 25 extra credit points for attending. Present your ticket stub to Ms. Norman for credit.
