Mock trial team prepares for state competition

The Mock Trial team has been spending time after school on Mondays and Wednesdays, trying to focus on training new members and preparing for the state tournament being held March 16-18 in Frankfort, KY.

“We compare well with past years, and hope to be statewide contenders,” said sponsor Mr. Patrick Stevenson (Language). The team has been training, writing, and practicing with an attorney.

In the past, the team has been participating in friendly games with other schools, to prepare themselves for the state tournament, and then the national tournament in New Mexico.

While team members practice, they get a since of the real court room. “I love that we get to think outside the box and pull different things out of the case to spin it however we want. I also like the competitions,” said Cate Heine (10). “It’s really cool to see how the other team interprets the case because every team sees it differently.”
