This coming April is going to be packed with activities, from Spring Break to junior prom, and the country music world is going to be just as busy. On April 1, the 47th Academy of Country Music Awards, live from Las Vegas, will start the month off with a bang. The awards show will be hosted by country superstars Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton, and it’s bound to be filled with great jokes and great music with performances by Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Chris Young, The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum and Rascal Flatts. Be sure to tune in a 8 p.m. so you don’t miss a minute.

Two days after this amazing night for country music the band Rascal Flatts will release their much anticipated album “Changed” which includes their latest hit ‘Banjo’.

In honor of Country legend Johnny Cash’s 80th birthday, Sony Legacy has compiled “Bootleg Vol. IV: The Soul of Truth”. The two-CD set will focus on recordings from the ’70s and ’80s. The 51 songs include an unreleased 1975 album, the out-of-print “Gospel Singer” project and collaborations with June Carter Cash, Rosanne Cash, Rodney Crowell and Jessi Colter.

April 24 will be a busy day for Country music as Texas hitmaker the Josh Abbott Band release “Small Town Family Dream” to follow up its 2010 success “She’s Like Texas.” Newcomer Kip Moore will release his first album “Up All Night” featuring the hit ‘Somethin Bout a Truck’, and Lee Brice is set to drop the much anticipated “Hard 2 Love” as follow up to “Love Like Crazy”.

Here at home, the month of April will be buzzing with country concerts. Sugarland will be performing Saturday, April 14 at the Yum Center. On April 13 Justin Moore will be performing at Renfro Valley Entertainment Center in Lexington. Soon after, on April 18, Trace Atkins will be at the Louisville Palace. April 27 will be the much-anticipated Kentucky stop of Eric Church’s first headlining concert, with performances by Brantley Gilbert and Drake White.
