YPAS dance to perform Harold and the Purple Crayon
November 5, 2012
On Nov 10., the YPAS dance ensemble will put on two shows of Harold and the Purple Crayon at the Girl Scouts of America’s Festival of the Arts. About 200 students are scheduled for the first show, and 100 in the next.
“We put it on last spring, put on different matinees. The children loved it,” Ms. Lora Ruttan (Dance) said. “As part of the show they got to dance; they got to color; they got to sing; they got to kneel; they got to do all sorts of things. It’s very interactive, and our students really enjoy it.”
“Not only is it a show for little kids, it also helps benefit YPAS students. “It’s a good opportunity for our kids to perform and it’s also a way for our department to generate money, it’s always a big seller of the fall,” Ms. Ruttan said.
“I think that the production of Harold and the Purple Crayon is adorable. Doing something like this for little kids is awesome because they can easily use their imaginations while watching it. I’m glad that I’m doing it, and I know it is going to do really well,” dancer Leah Kubala (10) said.
