On the Sidelines: Sitting down with Andy Tilman

The Manual boys basketball team kicked off their season last tuesday against Waggener. The team won 75-74 and that win had a lot to do with the help of senior leader Andy Tilman. Tilman put up 25 against Waggener and looks to continue to put big numbers for the Crimsons.  I recently had the chance to sit down with Tilman and talk about his expectations for this season.

Q: What are your expectations for this year?

A: We want to win the district title again. We also want to be one of the top teams in the region, like Ballard, Trinity, or St.X.

Q: I know you all have three frshman on varsity this year, what do you think of them? (Marcus McClendon, Nick Reed, Tim Comstock)

Yes, we have have Marcus, Nick, and Tim Comstock. All three of them have a great work ethic and listen well.

Q: Do you think they will make an impact this year?

A: Yes, I think all three will. Yeah all three are really good players. I think they will do really well.

Q: How far in the post season do you think you all can go?

A: Win districts and compete for the regional championship. Obviously, we want to go to state.

Q: Will you miss another dunk this season? (Tilman missed an open dunk against Waggener)

A:NO! That will definitely not happen again. I hesitated, I didn’t realize I was above the rim, at first I was going to lay it in.

Manual’s next game is today against Eastern. The game is at Eastern at 7:30.
