The Manual Basketball team played against Waggener High School this Tuesday for their first game in the 2012-2013 season. The Crimsons would go on to win 75-74 in this nail-biting season opener.
The game got off to a fast-paced start, with both teams scoring over 20 points in the first quarter. As tempo slowed down, Manual was able to take a slight advantage, going into the locker room at half time winning 40-39.
Waggener came out strong in the second have, taking an early lead and controlling the ball for most of the 3rd quarter. Manual dug themselves a deep hole that would be challenging to get out of. “We really had to focus up in the 4th quarter and just believe in each other, as well as knowing that the game is never over,” Andy Tillman (12) said.
The Crimsons were glad to get the first win under their belt and are hoping for similar results later on in the season. “This was a real eye opener and it made us realize that we are never out of a game,” Tillman said
