Actors Theatre field trip open to students

A field trip to see “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” a play by August Wilson, has openings available to four seniors interested in attending. The trip will be on Thursday, Feb. 3, leaving at 8 am from Center Hall. Included with the show is a workshop to take place Tuesday, Feb. 1 in room 351 at 12:50. The cost is $13.

Ms. Amy Ritchie (English, Humanities, CMA) has opened the field trip to other students in the interest of filling the four additional seats reserved for Manual students. Currently there are 31 paid attendees. “The most prolific black playwright, Pulitzer-prize winner August Wilson, shows that we have to know where we came from to know where we’re going,” said Ms. Ritchie. “I think it’s important for students to understand the power of the theater.”

Interested students should stop by room 351 as soon as possible to receive a permission slip. The spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here for more information about the play on the Actor’s Theatre site.
