Manual suits up for Costume Day

Hundreds of duPont Manual students celebrated Costume Day on Wednesday, Oct. 23 by showing up to school clad in their favorite outfits and disguises, ranging from famous television characters to quirky animals to bananas.

Costume Day was the third day in Manual’s Red/White Week, the traditional spirit week which leads up to the historic Male/Manual football game. The rest of the 2013 Red/White Week include Disney Day, Pink Out, Doomsday, and Spirit Day.

“My favorite part of today was dressing up like Taylor Swift because I looked so much like her,” said Mattie Hill (12, HSU). “People mistook me for her in the hallway.”

After the bell rang at 2:20 and the day was getting ready to end, many students stayed after to attend the Crimson Carnival in front of the school, which ran until 4 pm. Attendants endured the 45-degree weather to enjoy all the things the carnival had to offer, like jousting, a velcro jump, a wrecking ball inflatable, an obstacle course, snack tables, and games.

“I like how everybody is managing to have fun even though it’s very, very cold,” said Henry Jelsma (9, HSU).
