This Week In Manual Athletics: September 26

Football

Last week the Crimsons dismantled the Western Warriors by a score of 40-6. Jaelin Carter (#11,12) led the way with a total of four touchdowns. This week the Crimsons will play host to the Butler Bears in the 2016 football homecoming game on Sept. 29. The JV squad will play the Bears on Sept. 26. Last year Manual beat Butler by a score of 41-0. This will be Coach Scott Carmony’s first game against the school he used to coach.

 

Field Hockey

The Field Hockey team pulled off a huge win last week in a rematch of last year’s KHSAA state championship game over a very strong Sacred Heart team. This week the team had two games scheduled. The first is at Eastern on Sept. 27 with the JV playing at 4:15 and Varsity at 5:30. The second match of the week is against Christian Academy of Louisville on Sept. 29, which Manual will host (Varsity at 5:00, JV at 6:15).

 

Boys’ Golf

The Boys’ Golf squad finished up their regular season last week when Robbie Keyes shot a 71 for a second place finish at the Titan Classic held at Big Springs Golf Course. This week they will play in the regional tournament on Sept. 26 at 8 am.

 

Cross Country

The Cross Country squad will have the week off as they rest from a busy past few weeks which included multiple races both in town and out of town.

 

Volleyball

The Volleyball teams will have an extremely busy week this week as the varsity squad will play at least four matches. On Sept. 26 the varsity team will play Shawnee. The next day all three levels will travel to Brown, the Freshmen will play at 5:00, JV at 6:00, and Varsity at 7:00. On Sept. 29 all three teams will travel to Collins High in Shelbyville (Freshmen at 5:00, JV at 6:00, Varsity at 7:00). To cap off the busy week the varsity team will play in the Jefferson County Volleyball Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

 

Boys’ Soccer

The Boys’ Soccer team also has a busy week. First they will travel to Kentucky Country Day on Sept. 27, JV will play at 5:30 and Varsity will play at 7:00. On Sept. 29 the teams will travel to Oldham County to take on the Colonels, JV plays at 6:00, Varsity at 7:30. On Oct. 1 the Crimsons will play host to Lexington Catholic High. The JV will play at 9:30 am and then rest before they go play Atherton at 5:30 pm. The Varsity team play Lexington Catholic at 11:00 am.

 

Girls’ Soccer

The varsity Girls’ Soccer team has three games this week, and the JV has two games. On Sept. 26 the teams will host Oldham County; JV plays at 6:00 and Varsity plays at 7:30. On Sept. 28 the Varsity team will have two games, the first is at home against Central at 5:30 and the second is at Male at 7:00. The JV team will play at Male at 5:30 on Sept. 28.
