Manual teachers discuss the election

Last Thursday, Manual Redeye interviewed two Manual teachers, Alisia McClain and Tim Holman, to ask them about the 2016 election season.

Holman teaches social studies and McClain teaches mathematics, and both agreed that the election was unprecedented in many ways.

“The fact that we might say ‘madam president’ at some point, I think, is really important for the young women of America,” said Holman. “Because it’s one thing to say anybody can be president, but when you look up at the wall and you see 44 or 45 men… Well, not yet.”

“I think that the candidates are just a representation of where we are as a country,” said McClain.
