FCCLA begins meetings, kicks off activities for the year

On Thursday, September 16, FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) officers will meet in Ms. Cash’s (Life Skills) room after school; all members will meet Monday, September 26.

This Thursday, according to Cash, officers will “plan meetings for the rest of the year and various activities for the club, vote for awards and which cluster meetings FCCLA will attend, and make decisions that will affect the entire club.”

On September 26, FCCLA will meet with all students who are interested in participating in STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events, which are competitive events where members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.

FCCLA will soon be attending regional meeting at Shelbyville First Baptist Church. “We will be able to take 14 people with us – ten officers and four other members,” Cash said.

“I would prefer students join [FCCLA] through the fall semester. I would like all the dues be paid by the 15th, and if [students] want to participate in STAR events, [their] dues must be paid by December 1,” Cash added.
