What is Seniors Teach for a Day?

Maddie Gamertsfelder

The Class of 2020 received a handout in homeroom this morning with a multitude of dates to remember for their final semester.

Mr. Darryl Farmer, Ms. Paula Boggs, the senior class sponsor and the senior class officers created a new event called Seniors Teach for a Day.

The class meeting on March 20 during Crimson Hour will be held in the large gym. During this meeting, students will be able to place bids on different administration, faculty and teacher positions.

There will be a large screen showing pictures of staff members that choose to participate and each bid will begin at $10. Each person will be bid on individually. Available positions include principals, teachers, assistant principals and many other positions.

If a student wants to be a specific teacher or other faculty members, they can bid on them during the class meeting.

Students will get to be in their room or office for the entire day on March 24. The class officers encourage the collaboration of lesson plans for the day but the student taking over the position does not have strict guidelines of what they need to do during each class.

This event is a fundraiser to pay for the senior class trip and hopefully other expenses for the rest of the year.

“I’m really excited about this fundraiser because it’s different and something new. I think the seniors will have a lot of fun with it. I’m looking forward to the actual bidding the most,” senior class sponsor Maragaret Mattingly said.
